Contact surface < 12 mm²: possible without brazing alloy. The brazing quality (ratio of the brazed surface to the contact surface) depends on the assembly technique.
Contact surface >12 mm²: in the case of high nickel content, brazing alloy is often necessary.
In the case of assembly by resistance brazing method, phosphorous brazing alloy is recommended.
In the case of assembly by flame brazing, a material with a silver sub-layer is preferable.

Electrical test results
Nickel is a refractory material (melting point 1455°C) which is very malleable. Adding Ni to Ag improves the hardness of the silver, allowing it to retain good mechanical properties after undergoing an electrical arc. The high conductivity of the material and its easy handling, makes it ideal for intense applications provided that the current is low eg. relays, minicontactors, circuit breakers.

AgNi alloys with 20, 30, 40 % Ni are normally used for moving contacts in protection switchgears (circuit breakers, RCCB) taking into account the quality of the arc mobility despite its tendency to weld.
Applications
Any type of switchgear using current of between 0.5 and 250 A and 24 and 600 V.
This material is ideal for moving contacts in safety devices with nominal currents greater than 32 A.
It is also particularly suited for relays and contactors operating between 0.5 and 20 A.
