Swiss refiner Metalor Technologies SA is second to achieve RJC Chain of Custody certification

LONDON - 29 May, 2012 - The Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC) today announced that Metalor Technologies SA, the Swiss refiner, has achieved certification against the new RJC Chain of Custody (CoC) Standard. This certification complements Metalor’s achievement last year as the first refiner to be certified against RJC’s ethical, human rights, social and environmental standards established in the RJC Member Certification system and Metalor USA Refining Corporation’s first CoC certification in the Council’s membership.

“RJC is delighted to congratulate Metalor Technologies SA on achieving the second CoC Certification granted by RJC. CoC Certification provides a mechanism for refiners to demonstrate how they are implementing the OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Supply Chains. Metalor Technologies SA’s CoC Certification results from a successful verification assessment conducted by UL-Responsible Sourcing, an international auditing company accredited by RJC,” says Michael Rae, RJC’s Chief Executive Officer.

“By successfully completing the RJC CoC certification of our Metalor Technologies SA Swiss Refining facility, Metalor is further strengthening our corporate Responsible Refining™ initiative. We are proud to be the industry leader with respect to the ever increasing demands for socially responsible business practices,” says Yuxing Shang, Executive Vice President Refining, Metalor Technologies SA.
